An invitation from the LADC 2011 General Chair
What is dependable computing?
Our society is more and more relying upon computers, which makes people, systems and services more vulnerable to threats and risks of computer malfunctioning, in various application areas: bank transactions, transportation (cars, airplanes, trains, metros), medical equipment, satellites, etc. They have in common the requirement to be dependable, which means, they must be reliable, trustable, available, and resilient to malicious attacks, accidental faults and design errors.
LADC is the Latin American symposium which addresses questions related to how humans and computers harmoniously coexist without jeopardizing and satisfy their dependability requirements. How such systems should be developed, tested, evaluated, operated?
The conference offers an international forum to present research results, solutions to problems, insights into emerging challenges in a rich program addressing multiple facets of dependable and secure computing. This LADC edition will inaugurate an Industrial Track that will offer the opportunity to industry and academia to discuss their visions and practices on the focus of dependable computing.
To complement this well-balanced technical program, three social events have been planned at the end of each day, to integrate the participants into the Brazilian culture, and to offer them the opportunity to share together an enjoyable moment.
São José dos Campos is not only one of the major industrial and research centers in Latin America, it is close to the best beaches of Brazil and to Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo capital
INPE`s green lawns, trees, flowers, birds, people and the mix of science and engineering, added to the fields of São José dos Campos will embrace you in a very nice environment to enjoy LADC 2011.
I look forward to seeing you in São José dos Campos/Brazil.
Ana Maria Ambrosio,
LADC 2011 General Chairwoman
