The ISPRS/TC VI MID TERM SYMPOSIUM is organized by:
The SBC is a civilian, non-profit and technical-scientific national society, which headquarters are located in Rio de Janeiro and other Brazilian states. It was established on October 28, 1958 at the 1st Brazilian Consultative Meeting on Cartography. Today there are more than 1,600 members (institutional and individual) all over the country.
The SBC is aimed at promoting the development of the study and research cooperation and integration in the fields of Cartography (Mapping), Geodesy (and Surveying), Photogrammetry, and Remote Sensing. It also seeks to promote the exchange of technical-scientific information among National and Foreign entities and technicians, supporting technical meetings and congresses on the mentioned areas. A main congress is organized every two years, allowing the sharing of experiences of national and international researchers.
On the SBC structure there are eight Technical Commissions, as described below:
- TC I - Hidrography
- TC II - Geodesy, Astronomy, Topography and Land Surveying
- TC III - Cartography
- TC IV - Photogrammetry
- TC V - Remote Sensing and Image Interpretation
- TC VI - Multipurpose Technical Cadastre and Territorial Management
- TC VII - Geographic Information System
- TC VIII - Professional Training, Teaching and Research.
The SBC is also member of the ISPRS (Category V), FIG and ICA.
