INPE - 1994

• CPTEC-INPE is inaugurated in 1994 in Cachoeira Paulista (SP) Brazil.
  Inauguration of CPTEC (Weather Forecasting and Climate Studies Center) facilities and NEC SX-3 supercomputer in Cachoeira Paulista.
• Offering fire detection in real time, along with the increase on the meteorological and climatic data distribution over the internet, CPTEC becomes soon the main national information and environmental services provider.
• The Inter American Institute of Global Change Research (IAI) is installed.
• The Brazilian Space Agency is created, replacing COBAE.
• BRASILSAT B1/B2 Satellites - Integration and Test Laboratory holds functional tests in Brazilian telecommunications satellites from B series.
• CVD diamond dental drills, developed by INPE, win the prize for best Brazilian Society for Dental Research work.
• Guará Campaign, cooperation between INPE and NASA, coordinated by AEB (Brazilian Space Agency).
